The Ohio State men’s basketball team got its 2009-10 campaign off to a strong start, beating the Walsh Cavaliers 86-48 in an exhibition game Wednesday.

Junior Evan Turner made his debut at point guard and had little trouble adapting to his new position. Turner finished the night with 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, just four assists shy of a triple-double.

Sophomore William Buford also scored 15 points, including 11 in the first half.

Buford was six of eight from the field and made his only three point attempt.

Junior David Lighty added 11 points and, perhaps more importantly, appeared to be fully recovered from last year’s season-ending foot injury.

The Buckeyes officially begin their season Monday against Alcorn State at the Schottenstein Center.
