The section of College Road directly south of 12th Avenue will shut down for utility work today until Sunday.

This will prevent vehicles from entering the parking lot west of Drinko Hall from 12th Avenue. During this construction, drivers will be able to access this parking lot from College Road through 11th Avenue.

Kevin Carey, the building director for Drinko Hall, said he was unsure about the details behind the road closing this weekend. He said he suspects the construction is an extension of the South High-Rise Renovation and Addition Project.

This project is planned to renovate and expand five housing facilities on South Campus. According to the campus construction map, phase one of the South High-Rise Renovation and Addition Project involves the relocation of all underground utilities.

Phase one of this renovation and expansion project is expected to last until late Spring 2011.

Cihangir Calis, senior project manager for Facilities Operations and Development, and Scott Conlon, director of FOD, were unavailable for comment.

Calls to FOD and Utilities Support Services were also unsuccessful.
