A Kent State University student was arrested Saturday on charges of kidnapping and aggravated burglary stemming from an incident at Ohio State’s Morrill Tower.

OSU police arrested Grant S. Summer, of Minerva, Ohio, when they received notification of an incident at 1:45 a.m Saturday.

Summer was the ex-boyfriend of the victim, said Richard Morman, the deputy chief of police at OSU.

Police have identified the victim, but they cannot release her name, though Morman did say she was not seriously hurt in the incident.

Morman said occurrences such as this one are uncommon, although he said it’s not uncommon for the police department to handle domestic issues.

Summer’s arraignment was held Monday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court. He is still being held on $250,085 bond, said Jack Guyselman, deputy clerk at Franklin County Municipal Court.

A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday, according to court records.

Aggravated burglary is a first-degree felony and kidnapping is a second-degree felony.

Employees at Morrill Tower were unable to comment on the matter.

Calls made to the Summer home in Minerva, Ohio, went unreturned.

The Office of Student Life did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
