(Lighty’s draft result)

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Cleveland, Ohio, spent five years in a Buckeyes uniform and became just the third player in school history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists. Lighty finished his career with 1,458 points.

As a result of a foot injury that sidelined Lighty for all but seven games during the 2008-2009 season, the NCAA granted the guard an extra year of eligibility. Lighty then came back to start every game for the rest of his tenure at Ohio State.

Lighty entered Ohio State in what was considered one of the Buckeyes’ best-ever recruiting classes, which included Greg Oden, Mike Conley and Daequan Cook. Later that year, Lighty and the rest of his classmates earned OSU an appearance in the 2007 National Championship game, which it lost to the Florida Gators.

From his Twitter account, @OSULighty23, Lighty posted at about 12 p.m.: “Thanks for the love yall…whatever happens today I am thankful and proud to be reppin my #family, #city and #buckeyenation.”
