The Board of Trustees approved of new bachelor and master’s degrees, approved department name and academic degree name changes effective immediately, at their Board meeting Dec 9.

The College of Public Health will now be offering a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, the first undergraduate degree to be added in the College of Public Health.

With the new degree, students are able to specialize in Public Health Sociology or Environmental Public Health.

As the College of Public Health underwent some academic changes, other schools and departments will change their names. These include:

•The School of Allied Medical Professions changed its name to the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. With the school name change, all degrees will change to Bachelor or Master of Science in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

•Within the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Department of Human and Community Resource Development will now be known as the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education and Leadership. The new department will offer majors in agriscience education, agricultural communication and community leadership.

•In the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science will change its official title to the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering. Despite the name change, the department will continue to offer degrees in civil engineering and environmental engineering and minors in environmental engineering and surveying and mapping.

Geodetic Science is a science that studies the size and shape of the Earth.
