At about 9 a.m. Monday, several Ohio State websites, including BuckeyeLink and WOSU’s site, experienced an outage.

Attempts to access the sites resulted in an internal server error.

All the affected websites, which were centrally hosted by the Office of the Chief Information Officer, were up and running again by 10 a.m.

BuckeyeLink was back up by 9:30 a.m., said Katharine Keune, communications director for the OCIO.

Keune said OCIO representatives had a 9:30 a.m. meeting to discuss the matter further, but did not determine the cause of the outage during that meeting.

“We’re still working on the root cause,” she said. “Our primary concern was making sure everybody got up to full service.”

Keune said the OCIO is going through standard investigation procedures to determine the cause, and should have it nailed down in the next day or two, although it could take longer.

“Technical teams go through a really diligent process to look at all the pieces of the puzzle to determine what went wrong,” Keune said.”

Other affected websites include wexarts.org, osumarion.osu.edu and cartoons.osu.edu.
