The Ohio State Board of Trustees is scheduled to conduct an executive session to talk with legal counsel regarding court action and confidential matters.

According to a university press release, the Board is meeting Friday “to consult with legal counsel regarding a pending or imminent court action; to discuss personnel matters regarding the appointment, employment, compensation and discipline of public officials; and to discuss matters required to be kept confidential based on federal or state statute.”

Executive session meetings are not open to the public, and according to the release, there will be no public action taken at the meeting.

The meeting was announced Thursday morning via an OSU press release, roughly 27 hours before the meeting is scheduled to take place 2 p.m. Friday at the Longaberger Alumni House located at 2200 Olentangy River Road.

According to Ohio’s Open Meetings Act, a 24-hour notice must be given for any special public, decision-making body meeting that is not regularly scheduled, and must announce the time, location and reason the meeting is being held.

The Board Governance Committee held a closed executive session Fall Semester on Aug. 21.

The Board was not scheduled to meet again until April 4 and 5.

OSU spokeswoman Gayle Saunders was unable to provide further information on the meeting Thursday afternoon.
