Three Ohio State Buckeyes have been named AP All-Americans.

A day after being named All-Americans by ESPN.com, junior linebacker Ryan Shazier and redshirt-senior left tackle Jack Mewhort were named to the AP All-American Team. Teammate and senior running back Carlos Hyde also earned honors.

Shazier was named to the first team after leading the Big Ten with 134 total tackles to go with 22.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. He was also named first team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and media.

Mewhort and Hyde were named to the AP’s third team, after Hyde became the first running back under coach Urban Meyer to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Mewhort, one of OSU’s eight captains, helped pave the way for Hyde’s 1,408 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Hyde’s rushing totals came in just 10 games after he was suspended by Meyer for his involvement in an incident at a Columbus bar in July. He was also named first team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and media.

Mewhort was also named first team All-Big Ten by the media and second team All-Big Ten by the coaches.

The No. 7 Buckeyes (12-1, 8-1) are set to take on No. 12 Clemson (10-2, 7-1) in the Discover Orange Bowl Jan. 3 at 8:30 p.m.
