Redshirt-sophomore quarterback J.T. Barrett and sophomore defensive lineman Joey Bosa have been named to post-season award lists pertaining to their individual positions.

Barrett has been named a Davey O’Brien semifinalist after completing 134 of 207 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 scores through the air with seven interceptions in eight games this season. The Wichita Falls, Texas, native has also added 496 yards on the ground and six additional touchdowns.

The Davey O’Brien award is given annually to the top quarterback in the country.

Bosa, who was named semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik award Monday afternoon, was added as a semifinalist for the Lombardi award late Monday night. The Bednarik award is given annually to the best defensive player in the country while the Lombardi award is given to the lineman or linebacker each season.

Bosa is tied for sixth in the country with 10.0 sacks and is also tied for third in the country in tackles for loss with 14.5. Those numbers put him atop the Big Ten in each category.

Finalists for the Lombardi award are set to be announced Nov. 17 while the the finalists for the Davey O’Brien and Bednarik awards are scheduled to be announced Nov. 24.

Michigan State’s Connor Cook has also been named a semifinalist for the O’Brien award and his teammate, defensive end Shilique Calhoun, has been named a semifinalist for the Bednarik and Lombardi awards as well.

Barrett, Bosa and the No. 13 Buckeyes are scheduled to take on Cook, Calhoun and the No. 7 Spartans on Saturday at 8 p.m. in East Lansing, Mich.
