For some, the price of watching a national championship football team is dropping.

The Ohio State athletic department announced Saturday that tickets to see the Buckeyes take on Western Michigan and Hawaii in non-conference games will be reduced to $65 from the 2014 price of $79. Night games against Penn State and Michigan State will cost fans $125 and $150, respectively.

The Buckeyes played the Nittany Lions and Spartans on the road in 2014, both in prime time games, and won both.

The rest of the home games against Northern Illinois, Maryland and Minnesota are set to stay at $79, with student tickets staying at $34 per game.

The new system will reduce the cost of season tickets to $642 in 2015 from $655 in 2014.

OSU vice president and athletic director Gene Smith said in a released statement that the new system is meant to thank the fans for their support.

“We have the best fans in the land,” Smith said. “We led the nation in attendance last year and would like to continue to hold that position. Considering the great fans we have, it is the perfect season to thank our fans by implementing this model now.”

The Buckeyes are set to start their 2015 season on the road against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., on Sept. 7.
