A public safety notice was issued by the Ohio State Department of Public Safety Wednesday morning following an on-campus robbery at 11:53 p.m. on Tuesday near Bowen House on North Campus. A male student reported that a suspect approached him asking to borrow his phone, and another suspect emerged and punched him in the face, which knocked him to the ground.

The notice listed four suspects, all black males between the ages of 14 and 17. The suspects, who fled north on North High Street with the stolen phone after the incident, were seen inside Bowen House before the incident and were asked leave.

The safety alert also advised students to be cognizant of who they allow into residence halls.

“We remind you not to let unknown persons into residence facilities, and if you see something suspicious, say something immediately,” the alert stated.

The notice encourages anyone with information regarding this crime to contact University Police at 614-292-2121 or Columbus Police at 614-645-4545. Information can also be reported anonymously to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS or the University Crime Stoppers Tips line at 614-247-TIPS.
