Ohio State men’s gymnastics redshirt senior Jake Martin was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week following the 47th Windy City Invitational on Saturday. Martin, a captain of the team, now has the fifth highest all-around score in the NCAA this year with his performance.

“I was very proud of Jake tonight, and how he competed,” Ohio State head coach Rustam Sharipov said on Saturday night.

Despite it being his first meet since an Achilles tendon injury in 2016, Martin was the highest Buckeye scorer in the high bar (14.250) and floor (14.300).

Martin excelled in the pommel horse, scoring the third-highest total in the meet with a tally of 13.800. He also averaged 13.450, 14.150 and 13.450 in the rings, vault and parallel bars, respectively.

This is the third time in Martin’s career that he has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week.
