Take it all off.Not only does this campus now realize that it has a women`s rugby team, there can be little doubt left around the Oval that the Ohio State Athletic Department is run by a group of over-starched, underachieving little Hitlers. While the women’s rugby team was baring it all in front of the Lincoln Memorial, employees of the athletic department were trashing copies of the Lantern’s homecoming insert. You decide who made a bigger ass of themselves. The athletic department threw the Lanterns into the dumpster for one or two possible reasons: the cover did not hide the fact that the football team has three losses and the free tab was competing with the athletic department’s program. Maybe that money from the programs was going to go to the rugby team. The rugby team knew better and was not counting on the program money. They knew that Chris Tribbey puts out some bad-ass tabs, and not even the athletic department could compete. Instead, they decided to take their shirts off and sell T-shirts of their bare breasts to kids all over campus. Are these girls marketing majors? The shirts would have sold like ice water in hell. The only thing that could make the shirts any better would be to superimpose an image of naked David Williams behind the girls. (It is rumored that Ron Meyers is soon putting the Williams-in-the-buff photos on the web.)When will Williams stick up for his students? He seems to have gotten us screwed out of the Coke deal, he let the university broaden its jurisdiction over student behavior from campus to across the globe and now he has tried to punish the women’s rugby team for having fun and not breaking any laws. Come on Dave, lighten up.Williams has lifted the suspension he gave the team, but the team cannot play its final games because the league it plays in has also suspended them. The rugby team has been meeting with Williams (some believe to exchange nude photos) to work out what the punishment will be for the team. The punishment will likely include the rugby team going to a local high school to tell them how great club sports are at OSU. That should be a really easy pitch for these girls to make.
