The Ohio State School of Dentistry is in the process of selecting a new dean.

Dr. Henry Fields will be stepping down after 10 years of holding the position for the College of Dentistry.

Fields will stay at OSU until a new dean is selected. After the selection is made, Fields will retire and move on to other personal projects.

John Cassidy, dean of the College of Pharmacy, was in charge of organizing the search.

The interviews are complete and five candidates were presented to the provost.

The date in which the final decision will be announced has not yet been determined.

“In hearing the dean candidates speak, I’ve found that they all have superb credentials,” Sam King, a fourth year dental student, said. “I am confident that the new dean will do an excellent job.

“It will be extremely difficult to fill the shoes of the current dean, Henry Fields, and the other members of the administrative team that will be stepping down with him. They have done an outstanding job in raising the standards of the college and have helped make The Ohio State College of Dentistry a premiere dental institution,” King said.
