On stage, in the middle of a sea of cowboy hats, a legendary country singer performed old favorites and new songs. In the crowd were men wearing belt buckles, tight jeans and cowboy boots. The women were in sparkly tank tops and wore cowboy hats and boots.

George Strait, the “King of Country,” lived up to his reputation at the Nationwide Arena on Saturday. There was a hockey game the night before, but Strait heated up the excited, packed audience.

My first George Strait concert was an interesting experience. The music was outstanding. It was also entertaining to watch the crowd. People were stumbling around drunk and fans never stopped yelling. In the middle of all of this, old couples were holding hands.

It was a classic country concert. His strong country voice and words were inspirational.

The legendary country singer has 54 No. 1 hits in country music in his 25 years of singing and performing.

Strait looked good on stage in his tight blue jeans, cowboy boots, collared shirt and cowboy hat.

The concert started out with some old, famous hits like “Chair,” “Run” and “Dance.” Then, he switched to some newer, slower songs.

Strait played for more than two hours. The Texas man with a great smile made sure everyone got a chance to see him up close.

By the end of the concert, some of the wild and drunk George Strait fans who started the night off strong were passed out. Although Strait played too many love songs, the concert was still great.

Country fans know how to party. Fans danced in the aisles, girls took off their tops exposing their bras and some women even made out with each other.

The encore was fantastic, including “Hate Everything.”

The high price for tickets ($150 in our section) were definitely worth it. George Strait might be getting older but he can still rock. He gets better with age.
