Letters to the Editor
Dear Ohio State Students,
I urge you to not make the same mistake I did the first time I voted. I registered Democrat and was idealistically excited about the change Jimmy Carter would bring to the corrupt White House. But the one thing I did not do was study both side’s economic philosophies. I voted for Carter and have regretted it to this day.
I remember how his economic policies caused me to sit in long lines hoping the gas station would not run out of gas. He supported the Shah of Iran, setting the stage for Iran to become the greatest supporter of terrorism. He created and signed into effect the CRA which pressured banks to give loans to people who could not really afford them, who could not pay the mortgage.
Then Clinton lowered the standards even more and fined banks who did not give risky sub-prime loans to the poor people. These are the loans that the mortgage companies sold to Wall Street. It is the kind heart of Carter and Clinton that caused them to not have sound economic policies. Before you vote, understand both the Republican’s and Democrat’s role in this crisis.
