A West Side resident was shot twice Sunday evening when he was jumped by two men outside an apartment near North Fourth Street and East Eighth Avenue.
According to reports, the 35-year-old walked out the back door of a nearby apartment at 6 p.m. when two masked men approached him and demanded his belongings. He wrestled one of the attackers but during the altercation he was shot in the left upper arm and in the stomach area.
The man was transported to Grant Hospital by an unknown man driving a black Volvo. His condition was not available.
Gun stored in sofa stolen
A Columbus State student who keeps her handgun stored in the cushions of her sofa said told police the gun was stolen when she had friends over Sunday at her Indianola Avenue home.
The 27-year-old woman reported that while her friends were over, she briefly left the room. When she returned, some of them had left. She discovered the next morning that the gun, a Smith and Wesson 9 mm pistol valued at $300, was missing.
