More than 30 years after the first “Star Wars” film premiered, the series is still generating excitement around the world. “Star Wars: In Concert” will stop in Columbus at Nationwide Arena on Dec. 2 as part of its worldwide tour.
The stories from all six films are included in the concert, along with original music by composer John Williams, who has made music for other major films such as “Jaws” and “Saving Private Ryan.” Williams edited the music from all six of the films into montages for the concert.
“They are all handmade, so it’s like custom work from John Williams went to Lucasfilm and they did custom work to match. So it’s sort of just for this concert. It’s never been done before and it may never be done again,” tour spokesman David Barber said.
Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO in all six films, is hosting the concert. Daniels introduces each montage and gives a monologue relating to the theme of the montage.
The tour started in London’s O2 Arena in April, accompanied by London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The North American tour features the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
The concerts feature an exhibition with props from all six films that can be viewed before and after the show. Some of the items have never left Skywalker Ranch and are newly available to the public. The exhibition includes costumes, vehicles and backgrounds from the films.
Other props include full costumes of Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon as well as Han Solo in carbonite. The Darth Vader costume, measuring more than 7 feet high, is also part of the exhibit.
Williams’ original sheet music for the films on will also be on display.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or Nationwide Arena and prices range from $35 to $75.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
