From publisher Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Montreal comes the latest installment of the storied “Far Cry” series. “Far Cry 4” has players assuming the role of Ajay Ghale, a man born in Kyrat, which is a fictional locale based on the Himalayas and Nepal.
Ajay is tasked with fulfilling his mother’s dying wish and spreading her ashes on top of the mountains that he and his mother fled when Ajay was only 3 years old. Though the main character can hardly remember anything or anyone from the country of his birth, the same can’t be said of the despotic dictator and the rebel army, who are now waging war for control of the region. Ajay is well-remembered in Kyrat, and his arrival gains the attention of leaders from both warring factions.
The story’s ultimate outcome depends on choices made by the player throughout the game. Leaping from the top of a snow-capped peak, gliding thousands of feet at terminal velocity, landing in the middle of an enemy base and being aided by a giant elephant in dispatching them is an experience that can only be had in this imaginative and bombastic package.
“Far Cry 4” is a first-person shooter with an emphasis on exploration, traversal, stealth and character progression. On next-gen consoles and PC, the graphics are stunning. Ubisoft Montreal has released a game that is worthy of your attention and should be experienced by fans of the series and newcomers alike.
“Far Cry 4” is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
