The Ohio State men’s basketball team reached the end of the 2017-18 regular season that defied nearly all preseason expectations ranked as the No. 13 team in the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Buckeyes rose up three spots from their No. 16 spot in the poll last week. They finished the week with a 79-52 home win against Rutgers on Tuesday and a double-overtime win on the road against Indiana on Friday to wrap up the season.
Ohio State is joined by No. 2 Michigan State, No. 8 Purdue and No. 15 Michigan.
This is the first time since the 2013-14 season that Ohio State has finished the regular season as a ranked team, when the Buckeyes were the No. 24 team in the nation. Ohio State’s 24 wins are the most in the regular season since it won 25 games in the 2011-12 season.
The Buckeyes are now headed to the Big Ten tournament as the No. 2 seed. They have a pair of byes and will not play a game until 6:30 p.m. Friday. Ohio State will face the winner of the Penn State vs. Northwestern matchup.
