Ohio State’s West Lane Avenue parking garage will close May 9 to facilitate restoration of the parking decks, ramps and structure. The closure will allow crews to speed up completion of the work.

Kevin Loychik, director of capital programs for CampusParc, said the closure is expected to  last for three months, from May 9 to July 31.

“[Alternative parking will be on the] surface lots in front of, and to the side of the garage,” Loychik said.

The renovation is routine preventive maintenance on the structure as well as aesthetic improvements, Loychik said, and that this is done as a standard practice for all garages.

“However, only Union North and West Lane are scheduled for 2018,” he said.

For Union North, only the painting work is required to complete last summer’s renovation.

The renovations will be done in the summer to avoid disruptions during the school year. Loychik said these garages require some routine repairs that just have to be done.

“Routine repairs include concrete repairs, waterproofing, replacement of expansion joints as needed, line striping and markings as needed and miscellaneous repairs,” Loychik said.
