2FGR Presents: Down Syndrome 5K/Fun Run, 7 p.m. at 6000 Perimeter Dr. 2FGR and the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio will host their annual “Run for Down Syndrome” including a 10K, 5K and a 100-meter dash for kids. Tickets for the 5K and 10K are $38 and $48 respectively and $15 for the kids’ race.

Beer and Ice Cream Block Party, 5 p.m. at Pins Mechanical Company, 141 N. 4th St. This annual block party is back to kick off the arrival of spring with Columbus Underground, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing Co. and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in attendance. A $20 “Tasting Ticket” will get you all four beer and ice cream combinations, but spectators are free to hangout, grab dinner at Pins or at one of the on-site food trucks. Admission is free, but the event is for ages 21 and up.

Friday, May 18

Local Tourists EP Release Party, 7 p.m. at  Big Room Bar, 1036 S. Front St. Celebrating the release of their new EP “Adrift,” the indie/alternative-rock quartet will be joined by Silvis, Lily in the Weeds and Clemens & Co. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Rock on the Range, 11 a.m. at MAPFRE Stadium, 1 Black and Gold Blvd. The largest and most acclaimed rock music festival in the country takes place this weekend for three days of high volume and high energy entertainment. With over 135,00 people in attendance last year, ROTR looks to break that record after consecutively selling out tickets five years in a row. Headliners include Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Temple Pilots, Machine Gun Kelly and A Perfect Circle. Daily general admission tickets start at $79.50

Saturday, May 19

Fleet Foxes, 7 p.m. at Express Live, 405 Neil Ave. The Seattle-based indie folk band, joined by opener Amen Dunes, look to share their indie vibes Saturday as they give Columbus a taste of their world tour. Tickets are $35 plus fees via Ticketmaster.  

1st Annual Columbus Taco Fest, 12 p.m. at Genoa Park, 303 W. Broad St. The first ever Taco Fest is coming to Columbus this weekend, and they’re bringing the best taco trucks and restaurants the city has to offer. There will also be tequila tasting, local bands and DJs, a taco eating contest and a hot pepper challenge. Admission is free for this event.   

Sunday, May 20

Portugal. The Man, 6 p.m. at Express Live, 405 Neil Ave. The acclaimed Alaskan-based rock band will be in Columbus this weekend, joined by Jack Harlow for an outdoor show. Tickets are $37.50 plus fees via Ticketmaster.

Watercolor Painting Party, 3 p.m. at Wholly Craft, 3515 N. High St. Chelsea Dipman, creator of local small business “Glitteracy,”  will be hosting this crafty painting party, where everyone in attendance will get the chance to craft two watercolor paintings. All painting details are up to you and all the materials for the class are included.
