Ohio State junior wide receiver Austin Mack suffered a foot injury in the second half of the Buckeyes’ 49-20 loss to Purdue on Saturday. Ohio State confirmed that Mack had surgery on his foot Monday and is out indefinitely.

Through eight games, Mack has recorded a career-high 26 catches, ranked No. 3 on the team, for 331 yards, recording only one touchdown reception this season: a 14-yard touchdown pass from redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins in the third quarter of Ohio State’s 49-6 win over Tulane on Sept. 22.

Mack only had one catch for 24 yards in the 29-point loss to Purdue on Saturday.

With Mack as the primary starter at the X receiver position for the Buckeyes, junior Binjimen Victor will likely move into the starting role alongside redshirt senior wide receivers Johnnie Dixon and Terry McLaurin.

Ohio State has its bye week and will play Nebraska at noon against Nebraska on Nov. 3 at Ohio Stadium.
