In one sweep and one five-set down to the wire battle, the Ohio State women’s volleyball dropped its last two matches of the season on the road this weekend.
Ohio State fell to Iowa on Saturday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 18-25, 16-14).
Junior outside hitter Ana Beatriz Franklin set multiple personal records and fought offensive and defensively with a career-high 18 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and a service ace. She contributed 20 points which tied with her previous career-high.
The Buckeyes were tied with the Hawkeyes late in the first and second sets. Freshman outside hitter Adria Powell finished the first set with back-to-back aces after a tied score at 24.
Ohio State held its ground in the rest of the sets and led the fifth set 14-12 before the Hawkeyes scored the last four points to win the match.
The Buckeyes fell to No. 6 Nebraska on Friday (25-15, 25-12, 25-12) in the Devaney Center. The Huskers led the scoreboard for the entirety of the match.
Ohio State finished up its 2018 run with a 12-20 overall record and a 3-17 mark in the Big Ten.
