It hasn’t been the senior season Jonathon Cooper hoped for, but he’ll get another crack at it.

After missing seven games with an undisclosed ankle injury this season, Cooper will redshirt and return for a fifth season in 2020, university spokesperson Jerry Emig said.

The Ohio State defensive end was slated to start opposite Chase Young to begin 2019, but has only managed to play in three games and total three tackles.

Cooper was not noted on Ohio State’s unavailable list ahead of the Buckeyes’ Senior Day matchup against Penn State at Ohio Stadium.

The NCAA rule states an athlete can play in up to four games without exhausting their redshirt, meaning Cooper can appear in one more game for Ohio State this season.
