Ohio State dominated the Fighting Scots as nine of the ten Buckeye wrestlers won their bouts.
No. 6 Ohio State (2-0) defeated Edinboro (2-2) 40-4 Sunday afternoon in the McComb Fieldhouse.
The dual started in the 125-pound division, with No. 11 Brendan McCrone representing the Buckeyes against Edinboro’s Chris Vargo.
McCrone successfully shutout Vargo with a score of 8-0 to earn a major decision victory. This is McCrone’s second consecutive shutout win.
The second match featured a 133-pound clash between No. 18 Nic Bouzakis of Ohio State and Colton Camacho of Edinboro. Bouzakis made quick work of Camacho, pinning him in the first period.
In the 141-pound division, Ohio State’s Andre Gonzales picked up a 15-0 technical fall victory against Colin Roberts.
The Buckeyes continued their dominance, securing victories at 149, 157, and 165 pounds.
At 149 pounds, No. 11 Dylan D’Emilio earned a 6-3 decision victory over Garrett McChesney.
In the 157-pound division, No. 10 Paddy Gallagher used two third-period takedowns to notch a 26-11 technical fall, and No. 3 Sammy Sasso grabbed his second win in the 165-pound division, defeating Max Kirby with a 13-9 decision.
Brody Evans picked up the lone victory for Edinboro at 174 pounds, defeating T.J. Schierl with a 12-0 major decision.
The final three matches capped off a strong team performance for the Buckeyes.
In the 184-pound division, Ohio State’s Gavin Bell cruised to a 16-0 technical fall victory over Hunter Hutcheson. At 197 pounds, No. 11 Luke Geogg also earned a technical fall win for the Buckeyes, beating Eli Makel 18-3. Then Hogan Swenski closed the show for Ohio State with a 14-4 major decision win against Aden Roe.
The Buckeyes return home to host Hofstra University Sunday at noon at the Covelli Center.
