Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons is the first Buckeye to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to a Monday X post from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Simmons was having a stellar year at left tackle, before his season was abruptly halted when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during Ohio State’s Oct. 12 loss to Oregon.

He subsequently underwent surgery by orthopedic specialist Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who also serves as the Los Angeles Rams’ team physician, according to a Monday X post from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Simmons — originally from San Diego, California — spent his first two collegiate seasons playing for San Diego State, before transferring to Ohio State in 2023, at which he played his final two years as a Buckeye.

As of now, Simmons is a projected early-round pick in the draft.
