Less than a week until the final rankings are released, Ohio State rose one spot from No. 9 to No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings, the playoff committee announced Tuesday evening.
After defeating Michigan 31-20 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, last week, the Buckeyes will take on Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday night. The undefeated Badgers rose one spot to No. 4, the highest they have been ranked this season.
Ohio State holds a 39-38 win against No. 9 Penn State and a 48-3 victory against No. 16 Michigan State. No. 21 Northwestern is the other Big Ten team in the top 25.
The top four in the latest rankings consists of No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 4 Wisconsin. No. 5 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia and No. 7 Miami are also ranked ahead of the Buckeyes.
The final rankings will be released at noon Sunday, which will include the unveiling of the four teams in the playoff.
