A week after 2018 three-star quarterback Matthew Baldwin decommitted from Colorado State, he pledged his services to Ohio State.

The Austin, Texas, native flipped to the Buckeyes Thursday night amid uncertainty about the status of four-star Ohio State dual-threat quarterback Emory Jones’ commitment. Jones has taken multiple visits to Alabama and though he has reaffirmed his plans to be a Buckeye, the chance that he decides to play elsewhere remains.

Baldwin is the 17th-best pro-style quarterback and the 436th-ranked overall prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He will take on redshirt senior J.T. Barrett’s legacy and become the only Texan signal-caller playing for Ohio State.

Baldwin is the second-lowest ranked player in Ohio State’s 2018 class, above cornerback Marcus Hooker.
