Lane closures on King Avenue between state Route 315 and Cannon Drive will last through early February due to the duct bank installation needed for the Cannon Drive relocation project.
Two-way traffic will be maintained along King Avenue during construction, which began Tuesday, said Nicole Holman, a spokeswoman for the Office of Administration and Planning.
Detours drivers can use during the closures include Neil Avenue to King Avenue and Olentangy River Road to John Herrick Drive, Holman said.
The duct-bank installation, Holman said, will replace electrical infrastructure that services buildings in the nearby area.
After the duct-bank installation is complete, though, Holman said “intermittent lane closures will occur in the southernmost eastbound lane of King Avenue as roadway and traffic signal work continue in the area.”
Holman said this construction supports the Cannon Drive relocation project, which will create 12 acres of developable land, serve as future flood protection and create an eventual north-to-south connection between King and Lane avenues.
Dates are weather-dependent and subject to change, Holman said.
