Having lost his starting right guard spot on the offensive line last season after breaking his left leg on Oct. 7, Ohio State offensive lineman Branden Bowen has again required surgery on that same leg, according to Bowen’s Instagram account.
An Ohio State spokesman confirmed Bowen had surgery, but did not have a timetable for when he would return from his injury.
Acting head coach Ryan Day had said back on Aug. 27 that Bowen was still recovering from an injury, and that he didn’t know when to expect Bowen back.
“He has been dealing with that leg injury and coming back from it has been a little bit slower than he’s liked,” Day said. “But he’s still working through that now. But he has missed some time and so I know he’s been frustrated with that, but it’s a long road to recovery with the injury that he had.”
Bowen, a natural offensive tackle, provided Ohio State with depth at both guard and the two tackle positions. He was not listed on the depth chart for the Buckeyes’ game against Rutgers.
