On a day where most college students are too busy to even grab a granola bar, the Ohio Union Activities Board offered free breakfast at the Union on Tuesday.
From 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the campus-wide reading day prior to the start of finals, OUAB held a breakfast buffet for students to prepare for a full day of studying.
“The breakfast is an OUAB event that we do each fall and spring semester,” Danielle Diersing, a fourth-year in marketing and operations management and president of OUAB, said. “We set aside money in our budget to ensure that students have a good breakfast in the morning to start their reading day.”
The breakfast featured waffles, eggs, bacon, seasonal fruit, and other favorites.
Jess Hoopengardner, a fourth-year in microbiology and the director of operations of OUAB, has been attending the breakfast for years now.
“Getting to the Union bright and early, hanging out with my friends and then hitting the books has become a tradition for me,” she said.
Being one of the last events of the school year, Diersing said she views the OUABreakfast as a way of thanking students.
“It’s just kind of nice to give back to the students after they’ve come out to all of our events throughout the year,” she said.
Compared to its large-scale and reoccurring programming throughout the year, Diersing said that the breakfast is a small yet mighty event that the executive board is proud of.
Jordan Benn, a third-year in finance, appreciated the efforts OUAB made to save him some time for studying.
“During finals week it’s very stressful to have to schedule time to cook and prepare food, so I was really glad that OUAB decided to provide students with breakfast.”
OUAB hosts activities on campus almost every day during the semester including Flicks For Free, OUAB in the Kitchen, and notorious guest speakers, like Terry Crews earlier this month.
