Construction has started on the addition to Stillman Hall, which houses the College of Social Work. The $5.3 million addition will host classrooms, offices and computers labs, said Barbara Koelbl, project architect. The addition, located on the north end of Stillman, has been planned for a long time. “The space was identified as growth space when Stillman Hall was originally built,” Koelbl said. “There is also additional growth space on the south side of the building.”A small portion of each floor will be renovated to accommodate the addition, said Jill Morelli, university architect. The entrance to Stillman will also be renovated.According to Morelli, the project is supported by state funding and is scheduled to be finished during autumn quarter 1999.The construction is being completed by four contractors. Cody-Zeigler Incorporated is the general contractor, while Brush Contractors Inc. is handling electric work. Mechanical work is being completed by Fox Mechanical Company, and General Temperature Control Inc. is handling heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
