Beyond The Sidelines is an interview sports Q&A platform that sees LTV sports producers lead conversations to enhance familiarity with popular Ohio State athletes.

LTV Sports Producer Jayla Vanhorn spoke with Ohio State cornerback Jordan Hancock, one of the most versatile players on the Ohio State football team.

In the conversation, Hancock talked about his favorite Thanksgiving foods, revealed what sport he would play outside of football, discussed what celebrity he’d like to have dinner with and revealed which teammate he’d choose to be stranded on a deserted island with.

Q: What would your favorite meal for Thanksgiving be?

“So first I got to get the turkey, obviously. I got to get the ham. And then I got to get greens and then yams.”

Q: Who’s the best cook in your family?

“Definitely my mother. My dad don’t really be cooking like that.”

Q: If you weren’t playing football, what other sport would you play?

“I’ll be playing basketball for sure. I played combo guard [in high school].”

Q: What is something that you’re really bad at?

“I wouldn’t say I’m bad at video games. Drawing. I’m a terrible painter and all that.”

Q: And what’s your pre-game hype song?

“Anything by Chief Keef.”

Q: What’s your favorite song by Chief Keef?

“Probably, ‘Tony Montana Flow.’”

Q: And if you can have dinner with anybody, who would it be and why?

“Russell Westbrook for sure. That’s my favorite athlete. Shoot, his energy. He’s always energetic. He dunking on people and always bringing that energy, for real. He used to wear number zero, and that’s why I wear zero in basketball and stuff too.”

Q: And who or what inspires you in your career to keep going?

“What inspires me is my family. My mom, my dad, even my brother and my sisters, really. Even my dog, for real.”

Q: What type of dog do you have?

“I got a pitbull. He’s a boy. His name is Kato.”

Q: And if you were stuck on a deserted island, which one of your teammates would you bring and why?

“I’ll bring Payton Pierce. He’s not scared of anybody. He’ll just fight his tail off. So yeah, Payton Pierce fasho.”

Q: If you had one last message to Buckeye Nation, what would it be?

“We got some brewing up real good, I’ll just say that. Just wait. Be tuned. Stay tuned.”
