The No. 4-seeded Ohio State men’s lacrosse team fell, 11-4, to No. 1-seeded Denver in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday night.
The Buckeyes jumped out to a 1-0 lead when freshman attackman Tyler Frederick scored near the end of the first quarter.
After Frederick’s goal, it was all Denver.
The Pioneers scored four goals in the second quarter, and five goals in the third, outscoring the Buckeyes, 9-1, in the two quarters. The fourth quarter was a draw, with each team netting two goals, ending the Buckeyes season with an 11-4 loss.
OSU managed to get plenty of shots off, as Denver got off just four more shots total, but Denver freshman goalkeeper Jamie Faus came up with 13 saves.
Frederick led the way in scoring for OSU with two goals, and sophomore attackman Logan Schuss extended his point streak to 30 games — every game of his collegiate career.
The four-team ECAC Tournament will conclude Saturday, with Denver facing off against the Fairfield Stags, the No. 3 seed. The winner gets an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
