Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is projected to become the 46th president of the United States. The Associated Press called Pennsylvania for Biden around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, securing him and running mate California Senator Kamala Harris a total 284 electoral votes, unseating President Donald Trump. Biden also leads the popular vote by more than 4.2 million votes.
With most early votes and precincts counted, the Ohio Supreme Court’s makeup is poised to shift to one new Democrat — with Republican justices retaining a majority.
Preliminary results show that Democratic incumbent Joyce Beatty will win her fifth consecutive bid Tuesday for the campus-area district, defeating Republican challenger Mark Richardson. Students do have an individual responsibility to vote. But Ohio State, the largest university in Ohio and one of the largest in the U.S., has an even greater responsibility to fully facilitate student voting. The easiest and most effective way for Ohio State to do that is to cancel classes Nov. 3.

Despite the overwhelming number of early mail-in votes this year due to COVID-19, Ohio State students continued to cast in-person ballots.
